Theme Park Cooking Challenge – Chocolate Bacon Bark
Can you believe we are already on week FOUR of the theme park cooking challenge? We’ve been having a lot of fun with all these new dishes! So far they’ve been pretty healthy. Well today, we break the healthy with Chocolate Bacon Bark from Epcot! I got this recipe from the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival Cookbook.
Note: this recipe called for almonds which we omitted for allergen reasons.
We love Epcot!
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is one of our favorite times to visit Epcot. We love seeing all the different dishes from all the countries around the world. The festival this year just started and goes until Mid-November. There are a few dishes that I want to try to recreate for this blog, so keep your eyes out!
This recipe only has 5 ingredients and all but one are used to prepare the bacon. This was unique because the recipe called for sugar and cinnamon on the bacon. I’ve heard of sugar but cinnamon was a new one! That paired with butter and maple syrup made the bacon sweetness perfection!
Once the bacon was cooked, we melted the chocolate chips. While the recipe calls for semi sweet chocolate, we mixed in a bit of while chocolate as well. I feel like that just made it all that much sweeter. From there, we poured the chocolate and topped with the bacon onto a cookie sheet and put it in the fridge. We left it there while we ate dinner and then surprised the kids with the treat after dinner!
I think the person who loved this dish the most was my 3-year-old! She dove right in and ate the whole piece we gave her.
