Minions: The Rise of Gru Review
Banana! Who has seen the new movie: Minions: The Rise of Gru? We have been big fans from the beginning so we were so excited for the opportunity to watch this! We received a copy of the movie to review but all opinions are my own.
Of course, we had to have BANANAS while we watched the movie.
An Origin Story of Evil
The movie follows 12-year-old Gru as he meets his heroes the Vicious 6. Naturally, people aren’t always what they seem, especially when they are supervillains! We are taken along in the first of many supervillain adventures that Gru stumbles upon. Even at 12, we see how brilliant Gru is and dedicated to his craft. Of course, his Minions played an important role in this journey. They continue to make us laugh and they continue to help Gru. The ending (spoiler free) has you cheering for our hero of evil!
Is Minions Rise of Gru Family Friendly?
Yes! While there is a lot of action, there isn’t anything overly violent or bloody. The movie is funny! My kids were laughing so hard, even the second or third time they watched it.. The adults were even cracking up as well! Even though this movie centers around evil, it still has several good lessons in it. As mentioned above, Gru is dedicated and determined. We see that in all the Minion/Despicable Me movies. He is showing kids to work hard to achieve their dreams. The Minions are loyal! You may not find a more loyal bunch.
The Bonus Features are Bananas!
There are SO many bonus features! We were shocked at long the bonus features were. They were great! We especially loved the 2 mini-movies: Post Modern Minions and Minions and Monsters. Both had the same charm and humor as the movie.
